The World Congress on Active Ageing (WCAA 2012) is heldevery 4 years and presents a unique opportunity in bringing together scientists and practitioners, experts and  enthusiasts from a range of professional interests and disciplines involved in the promotion of Active Ageing. Previous World Congresses have been held in Finland, Germany, USA, Canada and Japan. The 8th WCAA will be the first to be held in the UK.

The 8th World Congress on Active Ageing will involve the sharing of ideas concerning the role of physical activity across the international community of researchers, policy makers and practitioners who work with older people. We aim to:
  • Provide a forum for debate on active ageing
  • Provide an accessible programme for researchers, practitioners and older people
  • Provide an accessible “active ageing experience” for older people
  • Disseminate up-to-date research and practice
  • Leave a lasting legacy for active ageing
