Update from BSG Scotland
BSG Scotland held its ninth members’ event on 5 November 2010 at the University of Dundee. This informal half day event was for BSG members and guests whom we hope to recruit to BSG. The participants were from the University of Aberdeen, University of Dundee and University of Stirling. This was the first time we had held the event in Dundee and numbers were rather disappointing as some people were unable to travel from other areas to attend the session.

As usual the event began with a buffet lunch and networking session, then the afternoon presentations were chaired by BSG Scotland co-ordinator Susan Tester from University of Stirling. Lindsay Dingwall, University of Dundee, spoke about her study on 'Comparing illness representations and treatment perception of urinary incontinence in older people and nursing students'. Jane Robertson, University of Stirling, spoke about her recently completed PhD research: 'Making sense and finding meaning: narratives about the quality of an ordinary life with dementia'. Then Mike Ramsay, University of Dundee, presented his research on 'Community nursing dementia service models: a scoping review'. The small informal setting allowed thoughtful and stimulating discussions of all the presentations.

The next BSG Scotland members’ event will be held on Monday 20 June at Glasgow Caledonian University. The programme and booking forms will be circulated and available on the BSG website later in April.
