Events & Courses

BSG actively organise and promote a number of different events and courses throughout the year for researchers and other individuals interested in the situations of older people. In certain circumstances, BSG Members may be able to benefit from subsidised registration fees – please refer to each event for more information.

Should you wish to advertise your event of course on the BSG website, please contact info@britishgerontology.org.

Members can submit an Event or Course, for approval, to the website by logging in and going to Submit an Event or Course

BSG holds an annual conference to showcase the work of its members, including students and early stage researchers, and other stakeholders from across public, private and third sector organisations. The conferences also provide an opportunity to develop and maintain links with people who use services and their carers. The Conference attracts an international delegation and is a key event in the Society Calendar. If you would like to be a part of the Conference as a delegate, sponsor or exhibitor, please contact the Secretariat for more information.

In addition, BSG runs a 'Small Events' Awards Scheme. This provides support and advice to members who want to organise local seminars and workshops that correspond with the aims of the Society and support the work of BSG in one or more of the following areas:

  • Advancing theoretical and empirical knowledge in the field of gerontology
  • Disseminating research on ageing
  • Connecting research, policy and practice.

Please refer to the BSG Awards section of the website for more information on how to apply for the Small Event Awards Scheme
