Special guest speaker: Professor Andrew Steptoe

Professor Andrew Steptoe is Professor of Psychology and Epidemiology and head of the Department of Behavioural Science and Health at University College London, and Director of the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ELSA). His work focuses on understanding the psychosocial aspects of ageing, the links between mental and physical health, and health behaviour change.

This lecture will take a closer look at some of the challenges arising from population ageing: health and social care provision, ensuring adequate incomes, prevention of ageism and enhancement of safety, promotion of independent living, and digital inclusion. Providing an in-depth discussion of these challenges in the context of large-scale population research, Professor Steptoe will further discuss the ways in which the experience of ageing might be enhanced.
