"Crafting the next Stirling Prize poster: A digital master class with Nadine Mirza" 1pm – 2pm, 16th December 2020

Nadine Mirza is a 4th year Mental Health PhD student at the University of Manchester, funded by the Medical Research Council. Her work is on ethnic minorities and dementia, with a specific focus on British South Asians and their access to memory clinics and experience of diagnosis. Her interests include public engagement and science writing, which she channels into blogging for several outlets, including her own (The Almost Psychologist). In previous years she has been awarded the Stirling Prize for Best Poster twice at the British Society of Gerontology Annual Conference in 2018 and 2019. In this webinar she will present on basic poster design with tips, common barriers faced by ECRs in creating posters, what makes an effective poster presentation, and some of the resources she has used in the past. By the end of the webinar you will be able to apply this knowledge to design and present communicative and accessible academic posters to a varied audience.
