Amar Bari, Amar Jibon (My Home, My Life)
Location: East London
Salary: £34,304 to £37,467 (pro rata basis)
Deadline: 14 March 2055
Amar Bari, Amar Jibon (My Home, My Life) project seeks to explore Bangladeshi elders' experiences of their current living arrangements and their understanding of what constitutes ‘suitable living environments’ for ageing well. The voice of this long established older Bangladeshi community in East London (UK) is seldom heard, and this research sets out to communicate these views, raise empowerment and make a difference. Our aim is to employ a Post-Doctoral Research Associate who will be central to the development of this study which is based on co-production of research evidence involving the research partnership (of community and academic team members), co-researchers and research advisory groups from both the Bangla communities in London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Newham and Hackney, and local practitioners seeking to make change. The project will research diversity and inclusion in later life living environments. The successful candidate will be based at The Open University Milton Keynes Campus but can work flexibly from home or at the Bangla Housing Association office in Hackney. The selected candidate will be required to travel to East London for fieldwork.
