UK reps at Age Platform Europe General Assembly meeting in Brussels 12-14 June 2019
The British Society of Gerontology is working with older people's representative organisations through participation in the General Assembly of Age Platform Europe, which works on behalf of older citizens across the European Union.

The General Assembly is making important decisions about the future EU strategies for older people which feed directly into lobbying at international level through the UN Working Group on the Rights of Older Persons. UK representatives (pictured) are working hard to build on existing strong relationships with similar membership organisations across Europe. We are extremely heartened to receive continued support from our European colleagues despite the difficulties facing UK policy-makers at present. Gemma Carney (international liaison, BSG) says: 'It is an enormous honour to work with older people's organisations across Europe on our common goal to strengthen public and political support for core values of human rights, equality and democracy in the UK and elsewhere.'
