Ageing, Reproduction and Sexualities

This Special Interest Group brings together academics, practitioners and activists from a range of disciplines with a common interest in researching and communicating knowledge about Ageing, Reproduction, and Sexualities.

Aims & Objectives:

There is increasing interest in how these three fields intersect across the life course. Currently, we have members with a broad range of interests related to sexualities and reproduction across the life course and in later life and that embrace empirical research, policy, practice and theory.

Subjects relevant to this Special Interest Group include reproductive technologies and practices; attitudes to sexuality and reproduction; ethics, discrimination, and human rights. Topics include accommodation, care settings, and health and social care; sexual intimacy, practices, and health (including the medicalization of sexuality and ageing); family practices and relations (including childlessness, grandparenthood, and intergenerational relations); gender and sexuality; and sexual minorities and sexual politics.

This Special Interest Group offers opportunities for conversation, collaboration, and critical review. We welcome everyone with an interest in ‘ageing’: scholars, practitioners, policy makers, and activists from all disciplines and at all career stages.
