The Department of Social Science, Health & Medicine is delighted to announce that it will again host the Age UK and Institute of Gerontology, King's College London, Annual Lecture - in memory of David Hobman. This will take place on the evening of the 18th of November 2014, in the Great Hall of the King’s Building, Strand Campus. We are pleased to announce that this year’s lecture will be delivered by Lord Geoffrey Filkin CBE on the topic "The Benefits of an Ageing Society" Refreshments will be served from 5:30pm. The Lecture begins at 6.00 p.m. with introductions and welcome by our Head of School Professor Denise Lievesley and is followed by a 40 minute lecture at 6.15 with a Q & A session at 6.55 p.m. Following the conclusion of the Q & A session, a free wine reception will take place to which all attendees of the lecture are invited. Together with Age UK, the Institute of Gerontology at King’s has run this distinguished lecture series since 1988, and has played host to a number of renowned figures in the gerontological sphere, as well as being attended by the Principal of the College and the Chief Executive of Age UK.
