Small Events

BSG supports a number of small events each year through their small grants scheme. The call for applications goes out in Autumn each year. All events are asked to promote the BSG at the event and to write a report for the BSG blog following the event. Applicants can apply for funding of up to £750.

Small Events

Applications for the 2023 Small Events Grant is now closed.

2023/2024 application round is now closed

We will fund up to eight events that correspond with the following aims of the Society and that support the work of BSG in one or more of the following areas:

  • Advancing theoretical and empirical knowledge in the field of gerontology
  • Disseminating research on ageing
  • Connecting research, policy and practice.

This call is to fund events in any region of the UK to share and disseminate research findings. Events should be held in 2024.

The grants will be awarded on a competitive basis and judged according to their fit with the BSG aims outlined above. Preference will be given to events that are organised in response to this call rather than previously planned events, however, we are happy to part fund events with other sponsors.

What you spend the grant on is up to you as long as it directly supports the BSG tagged event you are organising: room hire, presenter expenses, lunch and refreshments are the obvious basic requirements. We ask that you clearly market your event as a BSG event and distribute information to participants on how to join BSG. We may also ask that you disseminate your event through the Society – this might be as a blog or a video.
