BSG Archives

BSG is grateful to Swansea University for storing its archive of materials in The Richard Burton Archives.

The British Society of Gerontology Archive consists of archive and publishes material, mainly created by BSG Volunteer officers between c.1972 and c.2007. The Archive documents - and provides research value for – changing attitudes in Society.

The Richard Burton Archives http://www.swansea.ac.uk/library/archive-and-research-collections/richard-burton-archives/ is the corporate memory and archive repository of Swansea University and holds material of local, regional and national significance. The Archives selects, preserves and makes accessible to all the records of historical value created or acquired by the University. Through its holdings and the expertise of its staff the Archives actively supports the mission of the University to provide an environment of research excellence, to deliver an outstanding student experience with teaching of the highest quality, and to enrich the community and cultural life of Wales and beyond.

The Richard Burton Archives were the first university in the UK and the first service in Wales to receive accreditation status; this was successfully retained in 2017.

The Archives are open to everyone and we ask that visitors make an appointment. The opening hours are Monday to Friday, 9.15am-1.00pm and 2.00pm-4.45pm.

The online catalogue can be accesses via http://archives.swan.ac.uk/
