NIHR Health and Social Care Workforce Research Unit
King's College London

HSCWRU is based in The Policy Institute at King's College London. It is core-funded by NIHR's Policy Research Programme and through grants from several research bodies to develop research knowledge in health and social care, with a focus on the workforce. Older adults are the focus of most of our studies, set in home care, day centres or care homes. A significant body of our work focuses on older people with dementia and family carers; and we have strong relationships with gerontological stakeholders and older people directly. We disseminate findings to policy-makers, service providers, employers, and patient, service user and carer groups. We run a popular Older People's conference, supported by Age UK, focusing on topical themes, like resilience, human rights, and compassionate care. We also run a Care Home Research Forum, a Home Care Research Forum, and an Older People's seminar series. All are free to attend and offer opportunities to hear of research and practice development.
