The British Society of Gerontology recognises how important the international stage is in achieving its aims. Thus, International Relations is a distinct role within the Executive Committee.
The overall aim of the International Relations portfolio is to ensure that opportunities to develop links and raise the visibility of BSG abroad (especially in Europe) are taken. This includes developing the number and value of links with other groups and associations with similar aims; ensuring that BSG is represented appropriately on international committees and groups or at events; and supporting the development of capacity around research and other collaborations with international colleagues. One key part of this work is publicising international events and conferences on the BSG site, and ensuring that BSG conferences are publicised internationally.
