Following the final round of commissioning, reported in the last
edition of Generations Review, the first round of projects have begun to
wind up. As each one does so there will be a lay summary of the
particular project and its main outputs. Published as NDA Findings, in
both electronic and hard copy, this series will provide an easy to
access reference guide to the whole Programme. The first two issues have
just been published:
1. Innovation in envisioning dynamic biomechanical data to inform healthcare and design guidelines and strategy.
2. Quality
of life in older age: Psychometric testing of the multidimensional
Older People’s Quality of Life (OPQOL) questionnaire and the casual
model underpinning it.
These are available for download from the NDA website (http://www.newdynamics.group.shef.ac.uk/) or in hard copy from the NDA office (see below).
Also just published and available in the same
formats is the fourth NDA Newsletter, which contains details of the last
group of projects commissioned by the Programme.
Finally in this update I am pleased to announce
that the UK Research Councils and the RCUK China Office will be
sponsoring a further scientific workshop in China to encourage closer
links between British and Chinese researchers in the ageing field. This
workshop follows the successful events, organised by the NDA Programme,
between the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the ESRC in Beijing
and London in 2008 and 2009. The next workshop will focus on nutrition
and take place in Beijing in early 2010.
