Report of the Honorary Secretary
Dr Wendy Martin
Brunel University
Dr Wendy Martin

Hello everyone,

I would first like to thank Rachel Pitman, our website manager, for all her excellent and diligent work for BSG over the last few years.  Rachel will be leaving her role at the end of 2010. Whilst for many members Rachel’s role may have appeared to be in the background, Rachel has been central to our administrative and website mechanisms and developments; as well as a key member of the Generations Review online editorial team. I personally would like to give my thanks to Rachel, I have enjoyed working with you very much, and I wish you every success in your new life and pursuits.  We will miss you at BSG.

Alongside my role as Honorary Secretary, I have become the chair of the ‘membership and communications’ working group. I look forward to working with my colleagues, Rachel Hazelwood, John Miles and Sue Venn, on promoting the communications within BSG  and between BSG members; as well as enhancing our identity and profile in the wider world. Our first role is to continue and complete our development of our new website throughout the next 8 months.  The new website will be officially launched at our annual conference in July 2011. We very much hope that the improvements to the design and distinctiveness within the new BSG website will enhance your experience as a member.

It is of course time for us all to think about preparing for our next BSG annual conference with the abstract submission approaching on 28th January 2011.  As we will be celebrating our 40th anniversary, I very much hope to see as many members as possible at the University of Plymouth from 5th to 7th July 2011.  Please see www.bsg2011plymouth.org.uk for further information.

As always I would like to thank Rachel Hazelwood (BSG administrator) for her continuing and outstanding work and commitment to BSG.  You are a delight to work with, and I very much appreciate your diligence and creativity that has without doubt promoted the BSG as well as improved the service and experience for members.

Thank you!
