It is a very busy and exciting time for us all at BSG as we prepare for our annual conference this July. Whilst the work of BSG continues throughout the year, the annual conference is our key opportunity to share our activities with one another, meet with new and established colleagues and friends, as well as showcase our excellent research, policy and practice that we are all engaged in.
As co-chair of the organising committee for the 2010 BSG Brunel conference, this year feels especially lively and special as all the organisation and arrangements that we have been working on start to come to fruition. We are delighted with the response we have had to the call for abstracts, that has allowed us to present an inter/national and multidisciplinary programme with such strength and diversity. During the conference we will hold the 39th Annual General Meeting of the British Society of Gerontology at Brunel University on Tuesday 6th July at 17.50 hrs. All members are invited to attend. At this meeting we will confirm the election of a new President-Elect, Treasurer-Elect and a member of the BSG Executive Committee. Nominations have been requested and electronic voting for these positions will take place in June 2010.
I am also delighted to announce that as part of our current mission and enhancement of our identity the Executive Committee have agreed to fund a significant development to our BSG website. This is in recognition of the increasing importance of websites as a key resource and our pivotal means to communicate our messages and roles to local, national and global audiences, as well as promote communications with and amongst our members. The website team, led by Rachel Hazelwood and Sue Venn, will work over the next few months to develop, update and enhance the website that we plan to launch in 2011. We will be in contact with members as we develop this website to help us collect and collate new information.
