We would like to advertise this PhD studentship, fully funded through the Leverhulme Doctoral Scholarship programme for Interdisciplinary Resilience Studies here at UoS: Exploring online communities, resilience and wellbeing among older gay men Drawing on an interdisciplinary resilience perspective, this PhD project uses biographical interviews, discourse analysis and social network mapping to understand elasticity and brittleness in social networks of gay men and how, underpinned by a shift to online communities, networks of older gay men have changed over time with implications for wellbeing.

Candidate Requirements: We are looking for motivated PhD candidates with: • A UK bachelor’s degree with upper second-class honours or higher in a relevant subject, including gerontology, sociology, history or anthropology. • A strong interest and experience in theoretically informed qualitative research, discourse analysis and social network methods.
