We are keen to involve people who are interested in, or working in, the field of gerontology, whether from business, academia, the public or voluntary sectors, policy, practice, or beyond. One of the great strengths of the ABS SIG is the diversity of perspectives we bring together, so the broader the mix of backgrounds and experiences, the better.
Being part of the Leadership Team is not overly demanding - you genuinely get out what you put in. Typical activities might include helping to set priorities and strategy, advocating for the SIG within and beyond the Society, and organising workshops, events or discussions around shared interests. Importantly, you won’t be doing this alone: support and facilitation are available to help turn ideas into reality.
This is also a moment of transition. We would like to take this opportunity to warmly thank Professor Judith Phillips, who helped establish the ABS SIG and is now stepping back from the Leadership Team. Judith’s vision, commitment and leadership have been instrumental in shaping the group, and we are extremely grateful for all her work and contributions.
If you are interested in joining the Leadership Team - or if you know someone who might be - we would be delighted to hear from you. Please send your CV to abs-sig@britishgerontology.org and help us shape the future direction of the ABS SIG.
