BSG Northern Ireland

The Northern Ireland branch of the British Society of Gerontology was launched in April 2015 by a cross sectoral team of researchers of ageing.

The branch is an initiative of Gemma Carney and Paula Devine, ARK, Queen's University Belfast (QUB), Lynn Johnston of Linking Generations and Mabel Stevenson of Ulster University.

Since its foundation the branch has grown from strength to strength, holding regular events on an array of topics from Fashion, Kinship Carers, Adult Safe-guarding, gardening and friendship. The wealth of innovation in the group comes from our close partnership with community sector organisations in Northern Ireland.

In our latest event, Dr. Elizabeth Martin (QUB), Prof John Devaney (University of Edinburgh) and Rebecca Zerk, Research Research Project Manager Dewis Choice, the first dedicated service in the UK for older people who have experienced domestic abuse will contribute to a webinar entitled ‘Hearing Hidden Voices: Older victims of domestic abuse.’
