5: Gerontologists on Ageing

A film focussing on people’s reflections about their own ageing and the intersections between these experiences and having been, or still being, a professional gerontologist. Participants talk about the impact of their own ageing; of caring for loved ones; about the challenges of maintaining physical and mental health; of coping with illness; about family life and the experiences of ageing with – and without – children; and about loss and bereavement. Some people use their personal and professional insights to plan and inform their current and future lives; others don’t wish to engage with these issues. However, for most people, being part of a supportive community of gerontologists has been, and remains, important to them.
